Matthews paid $40,000 to the woman who worked on his show “Hardball with Chris Matthews” as an assistant producer.
When Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) reluctantly said this month he would resign over multiple groping allegations, he did it in a way that led his supporters to hope his resignation wasn't set in stone. He didn't say when he was resigning, and he clearly didn't want to.
“I am announcing that in the coming weeks I will be resigning as a member of the United States Senate,” Franken said. “There is a big part of me that will always regret having to walk away from this job with so much work left to be done.”
Kelly Cutrone is the most recent woman to accuse hip-hop producer Russell Simmons of sexual misconduct.
Cutrone, a TV personality and founder of fashion PR company People’s Revolution, told Page Six on Thursday that Simmons attempted to rape her in 1991 at his apartment. A dozen women have now accused Simmons of some form of sexual misconduct ranging from rape to sexual assault and harassment.
According to Cutrone, the two ran into each other at a party and were walking to another when Simmons said he had to stop at a friend’s apartment. Cutrone, who was 26 at the time, said she believes Simmons led her to his own apartment instead of a friend’s.
“He pushed me into his apartment and then he threw me down on the floor and literally tried to grab … take my clothes off of me. And I started kicking him really, really hard, screaming, telling him to get the #$%^ off of me,” Cutrone told Page Six. “And that I would have him killed if he ever laid a hand on me.”
